The Burner T-Shirt Revealed + London Backer Party Pics!
over 8 years ago – Fri, Dec 11, 2015 at 06:12:57 PM

Hello our brilliant Burners!

As we enter the home stretch of our campaign (7 days to go!), we've made you something we think is pretty awesome. We had Kickstarter T-Shirts made for our first campaign 3 years ago. You occasionally see them knocking around and they're a great reminder of a special time in Blaze history.

When the Amazing Andrew first shared with us the designs for the Burner PCB (printed circuit board) we were blown away by how beautiful it was! Our immediate thought was that the drawings would make a unique and very special T-Shirt design for this monumental Kickstarter campaign. And they do - see for yourselves below.

Get yourself this piece of Blaze and Burner history - adjust your pledge and add £15 for a T-Shirt. You’ll also be helping us reach our audacious stretch goal of £150,000, getting us closer to an extra mounting attachment for everyone. At the end of the campaign, we will ask you to choose from one of the three designs below:

Have friends who want to be part of the Burner story, but don't cycle at night? The T-Shirt is now a standalone reward, so tell them they can get one too! Click the buttons below and share the news:

STRETCH GOAL #1 REACHED! STRETCH GOAL #2 SET!
over 8 years ago – Thu, Dec 10, 2015 at 11:23:16 AM

Helloo Burner Backers!

Whoooopee!  1,500 backers!  Amazing.

As promised, and we are super excited by this, thank you for making this possible, we are producing a special colour edition for Kickstarter backers!

The question remains, what colour would you like?  We're opening it up to a vote.  We have provided 10 of our favourite options for you to choose from (not all pictured), but please also feel free to suggest your wildest dreams.  Have your say here.

At the end of the campaign, you will be asked what colour you would like for your Burner - the already available Sandblasted Silver, Matte Black, or ....

...And so, we stretched our dreams and have now already reached our new goal of 1,500, backers...  So it is time to realign our focus and to shoot for the stars!

This second stretch goal comes to you as something we've been working hard on since the start of the campaign.  It became immediately obvious to us how many of you want additional solutions for attaching your Burners.  We opened it up to a vote to see where your priorities lay and it was clearly with a bag/clothing clip, then a rack attachment, followed by a saddle attachment - we've been working hard and believe we have solutions for all of these!!

We have created 2 solutions for you - firstly a bag or clothing clip and secondly a multipurpose attachment that can be used on bag racks as well as saddle rails.

Although like the Burner, both of these solutions are elegant and simple, they will take a bit of money to get into production, so we're going BIG on this... If we reach £150,000 we will get all of our backers the solution of their choosing. Watch our video and see the images below to see what we've been working on:

Attachment for either bag racks or saddle rails - with 2 inserts for different rail thicknesses and a standard screw + nut

So, to summarise, help us shoot for the stars!!  If we smash our dreams and reach £150,000 we will give you all the additional bracket solution of your choosing - a bag / clothing clip or an attachment that works for bag and pannier racks, as well as on saddle mounts.

Ways you can help:

  • Share the news!  Help spread the campaign to friends and loved ones, email everyone in your office with a link to the campaign, post on your wall on Facebook, or in your favourite cycling group! We've made a page to make sharing easy.
  • Get a friend involved - reach out to your cycling mate, encouraging them to get involved, be safe and upgrade their lights.
  • Adjust your pledge, treat yourself and go for the full swag instead of just a Burner.

...All of these would get us a little closer to our audacious goal and you and little closer to a clever mounting solution, but we need everyone to get involved...  We appreciate this is a BIG ask and we can only get there together!

Regardless of whether we achieve this, we know many of you are sharing the campaign and have already so generously supported us, so for all of this, we are eternally grateful.

With love and thanks as ever,
Emily + Team Blaze

DEFINE YOUR MODES + A BURNER CHRISTMAS CARD!
over 8 years ago – Tue, Dec 08, 2015 at 06:50:26 AM

Hellooo Burners!

We are now more than 250% funded and have nearly 1,500 backers!!  Wow wow wow.

In this update we're bringing you some treats as a huge thank you!!

Firstly, and this is important and super cool, we want you to have your say and dictate the modes you want the Burner to have! With 24 LEDs (controlled in 8 groups of 3), each LED with 120 levels of brightness... the possibilities of flash sequences are endless!

We've made you an animation of some popular modes we think you might like. We'd love you to take part in this survey and have your say as to which modes you'd like, how many modes in total, and a free entry for any other thoughts and wishes for things we haven't suggested. Please get involved here and make the Burner the best light it could be!

If you're very excited by this, and are bursting with ideas on how to optimise the Burner you really want, there is a lot of how it operates we can change at this point - everything from the number of modes, the brightness, the speed of flash, the sensitivity of the light sensor, to the length of time you hold the button to turn off, all these are software changes and relatively easy to implement. So we're also opening up a new reward - The Build Your Burner!!! And you can do just that.

For £350 (which is basically the cost price of a custom build light, plus our incredible engineer's time) we are giving you the option to come and meet the Amazing Andrew and work with him to design and program the ultimate Burner, to operate exactly as you wish!

Here is a video reminding you of the modes the Burner prototypes currently have:

The other thing we want to send your way, is a Christmas card for you generous gifters to use. We know many of you are giving the promise of a Burner or a Burner Bundle to someone you love this Christmas, we want to make this extra special for you and have made a little card that you can give on Christmas day!   Please simple click this link to download the card below to print at your own convenience. Happy gifting and thank you!

Finally, a reminder for those of you in or near London, please do pop down to our Backer Party this Wednesday at Look Mum No Hands - for more info and to RSVP please go to the events page and we hope to see many of you there!

With love and thanks as ever!

ADDITIONAL BURNERS, BRACKETS + CABLES AVAILABLE!
over 8 years ago – Thu, Dec 03, 2015 at 12:22:48 PM

Happy Sunday our awesome Burner Backers!

We've had lots of people asking how they get their hands on additional Burners.... To keep it simple, please just add multiples of the price of a Burner to your pledge.  If you managed to back at the Early Bird or Super Early Bird price, you'll get those lights at the Early/Super Early Bird price.  For everyone else (and most people), please add £39 per additional Burner.

An awful lot of you have also been asking for additional brackets for additional bikes (the lucky lot!), with others asking for additional charging cables - one for work, one for home, one for the girlfriend's place...

We're now thrilled to be able to accommodate both of these too!!

AND at roughly half the price they'll be available on our site once the Burner is released! Partly because we'll ship them out with your main rewards, so no additional postage for us, but mainly because we love you - so grab them now!

Simply click the blue 'manage pledge' button and add £2.50 per extra cable and £7.50 per additional bracket.  At the end of the campaign, we will double check in your survey exactly what you've ordered - number of lights, colour choice of lights, additional cables/brackets. custom engraving text and T-shirt size, if you've gone for those too.

So just to clarify, add-ons now available are:

+ £5 custom engraving
+ £15 per T-Shirt
+ £2.50 per additional cable
+ £7.50 per additional bracket

I hope that's clear - just comment here with any questions and thank you for the feedback!
Emily + Team Blaze

Ps. Don't let your friends miss out on all this Burner love and please help spread the news of this campaign.  Thank you!
