As we're approaching the 200% mark, we are overwhelmed with gratitude and preparing to bring you some exciting news.  Meanwhile we just wanted to reach out and wish everyone, in the States and elsewhere, a very Happy Thanksgiving!!

In between product development, we made you a little Burner feature video, take a peek.

With love and thanks as ever,

Ps. We've had a fantastic response to our Burner Attachment Survey - thank you! Giving those left to cast their vote a gentle nudge to check it out and have their say.

200% FUNDED + STRETCH GOAL #1 ANNOUNCED!
almost 9 years ago – Sun, Nov 29, 2015 at 05:54:14 AM

Helloo Burners!

Oh what a start to the weekend!!  We're 200% funded!  ...In just over a week.  Thank you, thank you! ...For your backing and for your help spreading the news of the Burner!

As a sign of our gratitude we're coming to you with the announcement of our first stretch goal - this was only ever feasible if we had enough people, but it now looks like that may be possible, so, if we reach 1,500 BACKERS - WE'RE OPENING UP A UNIQUE KICKSTARTER COLOUR OPTION!

How it will work:  Currently you have two options for your front white and back Burner - you can choose the sandblasted silver or matte black, and we'll ask you for your choice in the survey at the end of the campaign.

Now, if we reach 1,500 backers, we will add a third choice, unique to Kickstarter!  At 1,500 people we'll release a vote, with open suggestions, on which colour option you'd like.  Some examples below are Blaze/Kickstarter Green, Glam Gold, Ruby Red and Gunmetal Grey.  We will also be able to offer some anodised / polished metallic options too, most things possible and we'd love to hear your preferences!

But we need to get there together first!  So please share the project, tell your mates and family this Thanksgiving Weekend - if you all got a friend to back, we'd blast past it before you can say cold turkey!

Enough of Black Friday, we're bringing colour back!

Thank you as ever!
Emily + Team Blaze

BATTERY SPEC INFO + A NEW ATTACHMENT VOTE!!
almost 9 years ago – Wed, Nov 25, 2015 at 09:45:09 AM

Helloo Burner Backers!

Yesterday was a milestone for us - we passed our funding total for our original Laserlight campaign of £55K and in just 5 days!  Truly amazing, thank you!

We feel this officially welcomes the Burner as a worthy next member of the Blaze family.

The engagement has been incredible and thank you for all your comments and fantastic feedback - all so valuable and so appreciated.  We've been listening and coming to you now with two further bits of info:

Firstly, this is something many of you have asked for and something we have already been exploring, but now want your feedback on, and that's alternative attachment / bracket solutions!  Lots of you have asked if we can provide an attachment method for a Burner to a bag rack/rail for example, many have also been asking for a rucksack clip or clothing clip, and some asking for an aero seat-post mount....  We are and will be looking at all of these, and it would need to be part of an audacious stretch goal to be part of the campaign now - but before we get there, we want to know what's most important To you - PLEASE TAKE 2 SECONDS TO COMPLETE THIS SURVEY AND REGISTER YOUR PREFERENCE:  https://blaze.typeform.com/to/i3EjLa

Thank you!

The second piece of info we've had many questions about and proud to deliver is on battery spec for the Burner.  Many people asking and we agree that after brightness, it is arguably the most important feature in a good back light.  We are super proud to tell you more:

The battery we are using is a Li Ion 16850, the same you find in the Laserlight and the same as you find in a Tesla(!) - they have many, we have one!  But it is a blimming good one!  Unbeatable battery drain and capacity.  Because the light is sealed and fully waterproof, we can use a special battery that is non-user replaceable.  We believe this is a good thing.  It is better than a CR123 or similar substandard cell options you can easily find on the shelf.

Data on its usage in the Burner can be found below, but basically, a Burner is one big battery and it really will last a very, very, very long time.  The headlines are that in normal 'Steady Flash' mode (with the LEDs on approx 50% of the time at about 50% of max brightness) the Burner will last approximately 42 hours!!  This is the time it takes Jupiter's Io moon to orbit the planet and travel 262,000 miles (421,700 Km).  ;-)

We originally said the light would last "at least a month" in normal use, but in fact, to be more specific, in the most common flash mode we believe people will use, the Burner will last more like two months if used for an hour a day 5 days a week!

While my personal favourite, 'Nightrider' mode, will last 24 hours usage - over a month of my London commuting.  And in constant bright mode it will last approximately 7.5 hours!  The bright mode really is eye-burning Burner bright and this mode is only advised if out in the countryside in fog and rain.  Still, you will get over a week's use in this mode.  OR - if cycling an average of 15 mph (24 Kmph) that will get you 112.5 miles (180 Km) - the distance from London to Bath!  Or, the time it takes to solve the world's largest Rubik's cube...

Every day's a school day!  To charge from completely flat to 95%, it will take approximately 6 hours, but the final 5-10% takes disproportionately longer, so the Burner will only take approximately 4 hours to get to 80% charged.  Full run time spec below.

Please comment here with any questions or if anything's unclear.
Hope this info's been helpful.

We have big things up our sleeves that we'd love to bring you, but they're going to need some support to do quickly - so please continue to share the campaign, tell your friends, and let's make this the ultimate back light on the road!

With love and thanks as ever,

Emily + Team Blaze

Ps. Final thing, while you're here, please check out our good friends here in London BeeLine's campaign!  We genuinely think this is a great product, and with only 3 days to go they're killing it!  Check it out: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1411369083/beeline-smart-navigation-for-bicycles-made-simple
